Can glass walls be detected?

Clean glass walls are not easily seen because the camera will only see the features that exist behind the glass.  This can sometimes be helped by adding a frosted accent to glass surfaces to provide some contrast to the background (example here).  It should also be able to see the joints between panels of glass because they will be a consistent feature in the left and right image.
